The 3rd National Seminar on “Coal Gasification: Challenges & Opportunities” organized by the Coal Gasifiers Association of India (CGAI) on 9TH September 2025 at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, Kolkata was a grand success. The Seminar was organized in collaboration with CPA and Women in Mining India (WIMI).
The Seminar also had an elaborate exposition where many exhibitors showcased their expertise, new technologies, equipment and mining solutions. Over 250 participants, visitors and delegates participated in the seminar and visited the Expo and had meaningful interaction with the exhibitors.
The highlight of the Seminar was excellent presentations by the speakers particularly by two foreign experts on the Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) which brought out huge opportunities in the country as well as proven technologies that are available globally. This evoked great interest in view of the huge coal deposits in the country being at depths deeper as suitable candidates for UCG since these deposits can not be mined as per presently available technologies.
Speakers from different organization/companies shared excellent new developments, R&D work and project learnings in their presentations.
